1. Introduction
Wheel Traveler ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") built FamilyVault to help families organize important documents and product warranties — designed from the ground up to keep your data on your device. This Privacy Policy explains what limited information the app touches and how it's handled.
FamilyVault does not require you to create an account to use its core features. There is no sign-up, no login, and no server that stores your documents.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 What We Collect
We (Wheel Traveler, as the app developer) collect essentially nothing from you directly:
- ✗No personal information required to use the app
- ✗No login or account creation
- ✗No analytics or usage tracking
- ✗No advertising identifiers
2.2 What the App Stores — On Your Device Only
The following information is entered by you and stored locally on your device, never sent to us:
- Document Photos — images of passports, licenses, insurance cards, etc. that you scan
- Document Details — document type, expiry date, and notes you enter
- Family Member Information — names, relationships, and optional photos you add
- Vehicle Information — vehicle name, type, and registration number you add
- Product Warranty Information — product name, purchase details, and receipt photos you add
- App Lock PIN — stored in your device's secure enclave (Keychain/Keystore), not readable by us or any app
3. Where Your Data Lives
Everything stays on your device. Document images are stored in the app's private storage area on your phone. Family, vehicle, and product information is stored in the app's local database on your device. None of this is uploaded to a server unless you explicitly create and share a backup file yourself (see Section 5).
4. App Permissions
Camera Permission
- Used ONLY when you take a photo of a document, receipt, or family member
- Photos are saved to your device only
- We don't access your camera at any other time
Photo Library Permission
- Used ONLY when you select an existing image to attach
- Files stay on your device
Face ID / Biometric Permission
- Used ONLY to unlock the app and to protect your encrypted backup key
- Handled entirely by your device's operating system — FamilyVault never sees or stores your biometric data itself
- You can turn App Lock on or off anytime in Settings
Notification Permission
- Used to schedule local reminders for upcoming document/warranty expirations
- These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device
5. Backup & Restore (Optional)
- Creating a backup is OPTIONAL — you choose when to create one
- Backups are encrypted with AES-256, using a key protected by your device's Face ID/Fingerprint or passcode
- The encrypted backup file is handed to your device's own share sheet, so YOU choose where it's saved (e.g. Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive)
- We never see, receive, or store your backup file or its encryption key
- Restoring a backup only works with the correct key/biometric unlock on the device that created it, or the password you set
6. Deleting Your Data
- "Delete All Data" in Settings permanently erases everything the app has stored on your device — documents, family members, vehicles, products, and your App Lock PIN
- This is instant and local; there is no account to close because no account was ever created
- Uninstalling the app also removes all locally stored data (unless you created a backup beforehand)
8. Security
- ✓PIN Storage — protected by your device's Keychain (iOS) or Keystore (Android)
- ✓Biometric Unlock — Face ID or Fingerprint, handled entirely by the OS
- ✓Encrypted Backups — AES-256 encryption for any backup you choose to create
- ✓No Network Transmission — your documents are never transmitted anywhere by the app itself
9. Children's Privacy
FamilyVault is not directed at children and is intended to be used by an adult managing their family's documents. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and since the app collects no data on our servers at all, there is no server-side data about anyone, child or adult, to be concerned about.
10. Changes to This Policy
We'll notify you of major changes through the app before they apply.
