Bugs hurt the app experience. Report it and we'll fix it ASAP.

High Priority: Critical bugs (crashes, data loss, App Lock failures) are fixed within 24-48 hours

What's a Bug?

A bug is when the app doesn't work as intended. Examples:

App Crashes

The app closes unexpectedly when you try to do something.

Data Loss

Documents, family members, or products disappear without you deleting them.

App Lock Issues

PIN or biometric unlock fails, or the app relocks unexpectedly while you're using it.

Scanning / OCR Issues

Camera doesn't open, or extracted document details are clearly wrong.

Backup / Restore Failures

Creating or restoring a backup fails or produces incorrect data.

Display Issues

Text is cut off, buttons are misaligned, or the UI looks broken.

How to Report a Bug Effectively

Step 1: Gather Information

Device Type: Android or iOS, and which model?
OS Version: What OS version?
App Version: What FamilyVault version? (Settings → About)
When It Happens: Does it happen every time or randomly?

Step 2: Write Steps to Reproduce

This is the most important part. Tell us exactly how to recreate the bug.

Example:
1. Open FamilyVault
2. Tap "Scan Document" and choose "Passport"
3. Take a photo and confirm
4. Document is saved, but the expiry date shows blank instead of what I entered

Step 3: Add Screenshots

Take a screenshot of the bug if possible — a picture is worth 1,000 words!

How We Prioritize Bugs

Critical (Fix ASAP): App crashes, data loss, App Lock/backup failures
High (Fix Soon): Core features broken (scanning, folders)
Medium (Fix Next Update): Minor UI issues, edge cases
Low (Nice to Fix): Cosmetic issues, rare edge cases

Before You Report...

Try these troubleshooting steps first — they often fix issues:

  • Force-quit and reopen the app
  • Restart your device
  • Update the app from the Play Store / App Store
  • Check app permissions (Camera, Photos) are enabled

If the issue persists, it's definitely worth reporting!
